Definition
Share of recorded crime incidents detected (CSO RCD04, annual, State). Observed percentage. PxStat publishes one vintage per reference year: the latest year is still settling (CSO initial extract, about eight months after year-end) while earlier years are revised as investigations close. Not a conviction rate. Do not mix CSO publication Initial vs Updated commentary figures with this series as if they were separate cube dimensions.

Caveats
- Observed detection rates from RCD04 (annual, State). A detection rate is detected incidents ÷ recorded incidents — not a conviction rate.
- PxStat publishes one vintage per reference year. The latest year is still settling (CSO’s initial extract, about eight months after year-end); earlier years are revised as investigations close. Do not treat every year as equally mature, and do not mix Initial and Updated commentary figures from the CSO PDF with this series as if they were the same cut.
