When the ECB raises or cuts its main refinancing rate, Irish mortgage interest in the CPI tends to follow with a lag — not always one-for-one.
Earnings growth above CPI means real wages are rising on average; the reverse erodes purchasing power. Series is calculated from CSO weekly earnings (DEA05).
Modified Domestic Demand tracks underlying domestic spending. Strong demand can coexist with high or low inflation depending on supply and imported costs.
Headline and core CPI are official CSO observations (CPM20 / CPM21). Basket weights are CPA10; detailed component rates are CPM24. Observed values are never overwritten by proxies or calculated series.
Wholesale electricity (SEMOpx), AA pump prices and the FAO Food Price Index are proxies — high-frequency context, not the next CPI release. AA figures may come from a live scrape or a human-checked fixture when the AA site blocks automation.
Wage growth is a calculated year-on-year change from DEA05 weekly earnings (method wage.yoy.v1). Modified Domestic Demand is quarterly (NAQ05) and is not interpolated to months.
